CA Technologies Enables GDT to Boost Productivity, Reduce Cost

CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) today announced that GDT, a provider of managed network and professional services, is using CA Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) in its newly expanded 3,200 square foot state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC) to safeguard connectivity and service levels for its customers around the world. CA UIM provides GDT with end-to-end visibility of its clients’ environments across multiple platforms and enables the company to monitor and project more than 20,000 network elements on its ten-by-fifty foot curved LCD Barco media wall.
Implemented in under 30 days, CA UIM has helped GDT to dramatically improve service quality, while reducing the cost of service delivery for its customers. The addition of CA UIM to the new GDT NOC, helps its engineers effectively manage the organization’s tenfold increase in services by providing a comprehensive view of its clients’ networks so that issues can be rapidly identified and resolved. This enables the team to proactively respond to real issues instead of simply reacting to alerts and alarms. As a result of the implementation, GDT has improved mean time to repair by more than 20 percent for many of its managed service clients.
“CA Technologies shares our customer-first mentality and has all the qualities that we look for in a true partner,” said Anil Vettle, director of managed services, GDT. “CA UIM was simple to deploy, even with our clients’ complex network environments. With the solution we can customize features that enable us to provide an unparalleled depth of application level monitoring inside the contact center environment, and better understand in real time what the end customer experience is really like.”
Multiple monitoring tools were proving costly and complex to maintain, and inhibited engineer productivity at GDT. The organization was looking for an IT monitoring solution that would modernize its infrastructure monitoring capabilities, minimize downtime and reduce mean time to repair. The tool needed to provide a real-time comprehensive view of its clients’ environments and the fastest possible response to alerts and alarms. It also needed to be scalable, customizable and provide advanced reporting, as well easily integrate with into GDT’s methodology that is founded on the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) framework.
By consolidating to one tool – CA UIM – GDT eliminated the cost and complexity associated with maintaining multiple solutions while also improving the efficiency and effectiveness of its engineers.
“IT operations teams need a cohesive, sophisticated view of their entire IT Infrastructure on which their business relies to support the growing business needs of leveraging new applications and technologies for delivering differentiated customer experiences,” said Bruce Fischer, senior vice president and business unit executive, Enterprise Management, CA Technologies. “CA UIM helps customers like GDT by providing a unified solution for managing the performance and availability of business services across disparate and hybrid IT environments that host a broad range of IT Infrastructure elements.”
