Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which General Datatech, L.P. and its affiliates GDT Advanced Solutions, LLC and GDT Manufacturing Company, LLC (collectively, “GDT”), collect, use, maintain, and disclose information collected from and about you from any and all web sites hosted on the gdt.com and gdtadvancedsolutions.com domains, GDT mobile apps, and GDT bots (collectively, “Services”). This Privacy Policy applies to any and all products and services offered by GDT, our subsidiaries, and affiliates.

How we collect information

We may collect personal identification information from you in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when you visit our websites, use our mobile apps, utilize our bots, register with our Services, place an order, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available from our Services. For example, you may choose to voluntarily submit to us, as appropriate, your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, account information, and password. You can refuse to supply such personal identification information, except that it may prevent you from accessing certain features of our Services.  We may also collect information automatically about your use of our Services, such as your IP address, and information about your device that can be linked to personal identification information.  We will not collect geolocation data from you without first obtaining your opt-in consent.

Additionally, we may collect non-personal identification information whenever you interact with our Services. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, type of device, and technical information about your means of connection to our Services, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers you utilize, and other similar information.

Web browser cookies and other technologies

Our Services may use cookies or other similar technologies to enhance your experience.  Specifically, we may place cookies, which are small text files, on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes and to track information about you. You may choose to set your web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, some features of our Services may not function properly.

Do Not Track

GDT does not track its customers over time and across third party web platforms to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

How we use collected information

GDT, our subsidiaries, and affiliates may collect and use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To run and operate our Services
    We may need your information to provide our Services or to display content on our Services correctly.
  • To improve customer service
    Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support your needs more efficiently.
  • To personalize your experience
    We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our users as a group use the Services and resources available through our Services.
  • To improve our Services
    We may use feedback you provide to improve our products and services.
  • To process payments
    We may use the information you provide about yourself when placing an order to provide the service requested in that order. We use third parties to process your credit card transactions.  We do not maintain your credit card information.
  • To send periodic updates, notices, announcements, and direct marketing about GDT, our subsidiaries, and affiliates
    We may use the email address, phone numbers, or other contact information provided to us to send you information and updates related to the use of our Services. This contact information may also be used to respond to your inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. Contact information may also be used for us to market our products and services to you.

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices, and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data acquired from use of our Services.

Sharing your personal information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated information not linked to any personal identification information regarding you with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers consistent with this policy.  When you use our interactive and/or collaborative Services, the personal information you provide may be made available to other users.

To the extent consistent with applicable law, we may share your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • With our subsidiaries and affiliates;
  • With affiliated third-party service providers, such as companies that provide us technical support, analytics, data hosting, and other services;
  • If we are legally required to do so or if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to do so in order to comply with a law or regulation or to protect the public health or safety of any person;
  • To address fraud, security, or technical issues, or to protect GDT’s rights or properties;
  • In the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of a business or assets to a third party, such as in connection with a merger or in the event of a bankruptcy reorganization or liquidation; and
  • When you or your company or organization consent to or request such sharing.

Third parties

Our Services may contain content that links to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Services.  In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which link to our Services, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.

Children

You must be 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) or older to use the Services.  We do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13 years of age.  If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information online from children under 13 years of age without verification of parental consent, we will endeavor promptly to remove such information from your systems.

Consent to Transfer, Processing and Storage of Personal Information

GDT may transfer your personal information to GDT in the U.S., to any GDT subsidiary or affiliate worldwide, or to third parties that are located in various countries around the world. By using our Services or providing any personal information to us, where applicable law permits, you consent to the transfer, processing, and storage of such information outside of your country of residence where data protection standards may be different.

EU-U.S. Privacy Shield

GDT participates in and has certified compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework (“Privacy Shield”). We are committed to subjecting all personal data received from European Union (EU) member countries, in reliance on the Privacy Shield, to the Privacy Shield’s applicable Principles. We are responsible for the processing of personal data we receive, under the Privacy Shield framework, and subsequently transfer to a third party acting as an agent on our behalf. We comply with the Privacy Shield Principles for all onward transfers of personal data from the EU, including the onward transfer liability provisions.  In certain situations, we may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

As set forth in the Privacy Shield Framework, we provide a reasonable opportunity to correct, amend or delete your personal information where it is inaccurate or has been processed inconsistently with the terms of this Privacy Policy.  We may limit or deny access to personal information where providing such access is unreasonably burdensome or expensive under the circumstances, or as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Shield Principles. If you have any inquiries or complaints about our handling of your personal information under the Privacy Shield, please contact us at privacy@gdt.com.  We will respond to your inquiry promptly.  If we are unable to satisfactorily resolve your complaint, or we fail to respond to your complaint in a timely fashion, or if you have an unresolved privacy or data use concern that we have not addressed satisfactorily, please contact our U.S.-based third party dispute resolution provider (TRUSTe) (free of charge) at https://feedback-form.truste.com/watchdog/request.  If neither GDT nor TRUSTe resolves your complaint, then under certain conditions, more fully described on the Privacy Shield website, you may pursue binding arbitration through the Privacy Shield Panel.

With respect to personal data received or transferred pursuant to the Privacy Shield, we are subject to the regulatory enforcement powers of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

U.S. – Swiss Safe Harbor Framework

GDT complies with the U.S. – Swiss Safe Harbor Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and retention of personal data from Switzerland.  We have certified that we adhere to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement.  To learn more about the Safe Harbor program, and to view our certification, please visit http://www.export.gov/safeharbor.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

GDT, our subsidiaries, and affiliates have the discretion to update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we do, we will post changes to this page and revise the updated date at the bottom of this page.  If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice.  We encourage you to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

Your acceptance of these terms

By using our Services, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use our Services. Your continued use of our Services following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.
