GDT launches GWEN to promote the advancement of women in IT

Dallas, TX – Dallas-based technology and systems integrator GDT announced the formation of GWEN, an organization designed to encourage and promote the personal transformation and advancement of women in Information Technology.
GWEN, which stands for GDT Women’s Empowerment Network, will work to promote equal opportunities for women and empower growth within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) community. GWEN was created with the following four (4) initiatives in mind: mentorship and professional development, networking, education and community outreach.
According to Meg Gordon, GDT’s Vice President of Services Operations, “By utilizing GDT’s established business principles, GWEN will increase the impact of women in all aspects of business and technology.  This initiative gives women the ability to collaborate with other highly skilled, seasoned women professionals through focused leadership, visibility and recognition, networking opportunities, and a means of delivering personal and professional development programs.”
According to report from The World Economic Forum, “In Information and Communication Technology, a sector which struggles with talent shortages, only 37% of companies regard enhancing women’s workforce participation as an opportunity for expanding the talent pool.” GWEN aims to increase that percentage.
